How Good Are Northampton Public Schools?

Really good! When you start your education in the Northampton Public Schools, you are on your way to realizing your full potential and reaching your intellectual goals.

  • Of the Northampton High School students who graduated from NPS elementary schools, 85 percent scored “proficient” or better on both the 10th grade English and math Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) tests.

  • Northampton High School has the highest percentage of Advanced Placement (AP) class participation in all of Western Massachusetts, and its percentage is eighth highest statewide.

  • Approximately 80 percent of graduating seniors continue their education. Class of 2015 college acceptances included many top schools including Brown, Johns Hopkins, MIT, Princeton, Smith, Swarthmore, Wesleyan and Yale.

  • Teachers ensure that all elementary school students have the opportunity to reach their educational goals by using the Response to Intervention (RTI) system. Universal screening allows teachers to provide early, low-stress, individualized support for students in math and reading, so everyone gets the instruction and guidance they need.
